What is the big deal about sulfate free hair care?

A lot of shampoos and conditioners contain cheap filler ingrediants like mineral oil, sulfates, and alcohols that actually dry the hair out.

Mineral oil is a cheap oil that actually clogs the scalp and stunts hair growth because of how slow it absorbs. It causes your hairs sebum(natural oil) not to run down your hair and condition your hair.

Sulfates are used in shampoos to produce foam, they are known to cause cancer if ever used in an excessive amounts. There are on reason for them to be in the shampoos other than the user feels that it makes the hair cleaner, which it does not, it just makes the shampoo easier to spread. When rinsed off, the product will have cleaned the area but will have taken moisture from the top layers of skin. In people with sensitive skin (prone to dermatitis, acne, eczema, psoriasis and chemical sensitivity), the drying property of these type of detergents can cause flare-ups of skin conditions or may worsen existing conditions.

Cetyl Alcohol is the only alcohol that is actually good for your hair, it used to made from wale sperm but now about 90% comes from coconut or palm oil. It also goes by the name palmityl alcohol. Any other alcohol in your shampoo is actually rubbing alcohol and can completely dry your hair out.

Switching to a salon quality shampoo to lessen the chances of you using shampoos with cheap fillers is a good way to go or you can just began using natural shampoos and conditioners. Aubrey organics, Burts Bee's, and/or Baking soda w/ ACV rinse are good alternative(natural) hair lines and products.
