I've already got my hair cut in the layers,

and i can backcomb for an hour straight

but it STILL won't do that.

I've got this expensive wax/pomade

by Bumble and Bumble called Sumotech.

And i've also got their super hold hairspray.

Yet i cant seem to figure how to make it work.

like i cant get it to do anything.

so please tell me what to do to get it like that.

I feel your pain! I wouldn't normally wear my hair like that, but the time's I've tried I've never been able to get mine THAAAT big. The best I can tell you is hairspray your shortest layers at the crown of your hair, let it dry, rat it, spray, let it dry, rat it, repeat until you reach desired effect.

This may apply to you, too. I talked to my hair girl about it, and she said I can't get it that big because I have soft, thin strands. Maybe you do, too?

Once you get out of the shower, blow dry you hair upside down until fully dried. put in a ponytail right away, don't style, comb, shake, ANYTHING. Hairspray you hair and take the ponytail out. Poof it up in the back and spray more. Just experiment.

You'd have to tease the layers underneath using a comb and spray it with extra strong hold hairspray.......Keeping the top layers straight.

If your hair is layered like the one in the second photo than you shouldn't have a problem getting it to look like that with teasing and hairspray.

LMAO... Im a child of the 80s.........

That .. is ..... NOT .... BIGGGGGG hair LOL.

Tips I can suggest.........

First, that might not even be all HER hair.. it could be extensions, clips, glued in , sewn in, etc.

There are also things like half halos , or combs, that u can put underneath your hair to help give it a lot of lift.

Backcombing helps, but you 1. have to know what you're doing so you dont end up with NO hair, and secondly, spray spray spray.. spray medium shots of hairspray, backcomb a lil, then blow dry that section, spray lightly, and do it over and over.

Also, although there are some great products on the market now... some of the " old tried and true " methods are still around.

aka.......... AQUA NET !!! Its cheap , it holds like cement and if u are wanting that hairstyle for more than once or twice, ur going to need it in order to be able to AFFORD that hairstyle because ur going to be using a LOT of hairspray.
