How do I get big volumized hair without the hard hairspray feel?

I have a great amount of layers in my below-the-chest length hair. The first layer starts at about eyebrow length. I already know how to get volume and a good tease and I top it off with "Screaming Hold Freeze Spray". It keeps the style together nicely but i'm always left with hard texture and can't comb my fingers through it. I'm good with hair when it comes to dying and cutting, but as far as my styling goes I'm not sure if the hairspray is the problem or what. Is there any other product besides just mousse and hairspray that can give me my volume AND softness at the same time?

put moose in damp hair and blowdry upside down. spray a root lifting volumizer and shake it out. if you have a parted hair section flip it to the opposite side that usually helps

Sometimes you don't have to use any products at all. You can try blow-drying your hair with your head flipped over and pushing your hair up and teasing it with your fingers. This works very well most of the time. But it depends on your hair type. But just try it.

Using the big plastic rollers (1 to 1 1/2 inch) on wet or dry hair creates great volume for layers. I don't use any hair spray on my hair! I just roll it every other day. Good luck.
