It can 'fry' your hair pretty bad, but if you don't perm it too often or as a one off, you should be OK. And when it's permed, use moisture masks at least once a week and condition well. I'm sure it will look gorgeous!
I want to perm my hair just so i can get big flowy curls...but how badly does it damage your hair?
must be 50 million American women who have had perms, so they can't cause too much damage.

I wanted a perm once but I was unsure so I asked A beautician and she said "it litterally fries your hair just to be honest" I recomand low-heat curling irons, curls come out best with moose. Happy curling!

Depending on you natural hair type, take my mom for example, she had straight, straight hair, then she permed her hair curly, now a few years later its wavy and it falls out A LOT unless she takes really really GOOD care of it.
I say do it but take EXTREME GOOD CARE OF IT!!!!!

Most importantly, let me say that big flowy curls cannot be achieved from a perm. The biggest perm rod we can use that will actually do anything is about an inch in diameter. If you use a rod that is too big, you get no curls.
Damage: It's pretty damaging to the hair, but healthy, virgin hair can handle it. If you have color on your hair, I'd say maybe don't do it. If you have hilights or any bleach at all, I'd say definitely don't do it.
